How many calories for a strict, low-fat diet?

Here’s my situation
I’m currently on a low fat diet and want to see what others recommend. I’m actually trying to lose a LOT of weight. 100 lbs to be specific. Anyone have any low fat diet tips to drop this much weight quickly? I’m currently on a diet, but it’s going nowhere and I’m not losing weight fast enough.

Do low fat diets even work?

I would recommend avoiding the low fat diets, and especially all the low fat foods like cookies and other snacks. All of these foods are usually high in sugar and your body can turn excess sugar into fat. Your body is capable of turning any calorie into fat, not just fat calories, so there’s no reason to reduce fat to lose weight.

I would recommend the calorie shifting diet from Fat Loss 4 Idiots. This diet works by manipulating carb calories and protein calories.

Your body needs certain types of fats to function, so dropping your fat intake too low can be unhealthy. You also don’t want to drop your calories too low, because then you’ll reach a dieting plateau and you’ll be starving yourself for nothing.
